#87828, "Going High Compression and Nitrous, Suggestions?"

Ok, my girl friends motor went out in her Eclipse. I am extremely fimiliar with the 4g63 but to too knowledgable on the options available with the 420a. We already have a 85 shot hooked up to it but I would like to build the motor up for a larger shot. I was looking at the kits available from Howell Automotive and noticed you could go as high as 12.5:1 pistons. I was originally considering running the 10.5:1 but if 12.5:1 is streetable that would be amazing. This is her daily driver so is that compression do able? Now before you ask, we are not planning on turboing the car. For obvious reasons, turbo and High comp don't mix too well. I have my GSX for turbo so we want something a little different. Is the 2.2 stroker option worth the extra 1,000 or should we stick with the 2.0? I know it will give us more torque but the nitrous is adding gobs of torque as it is. Is it worth the cash? On the cam side, any specific cams you guys perfer for the 420a? We would want something that will support High comp more than nitrous since the nitrous will only be used every so often. I hear that the stock head on the 420a flows very well as is so is any porting really needed? I noticed not many people go the all motor route so I would like to take it up and do something a little different. Anything else you would recomend to make this all motor project even better? Thanks for your suggestions.

Go 10.5 not 12.5. 12.5 isn't very streetable. 10.5 is streetable but you'll probably want to avoid the shitty gas. The stroker is always good as more displacement = more power/torque. As for cars, since this is just a daily driver and you don't want some wierd ass idle I would stay pretty mild. Crane 10s and Crower 1s. Should let you breathe a little more. If you want to go a little farther Crane 12s ... a little further past that Crower 2s. Watch your fuel comsumption if you go 2.2L 10.5:1 compression. That may require you to bump up to the next size injector (24lb/hr).
