hey, ive always pulled the engine, but im going to drop the tranny to install my clutch...i was wondering if i could drop the tranny a few inches, then disconnect the axles....i didnt know if this would allow enough flex room to pull the axles without disconnecting the suspension.... thanks doug

i've never been able to get the axles out without pulling the suspension bolts. why are you asking? are the axle nuts at the hub stuck on there? pm me with any questions bro, i've done this job 20 times at least...chris

Hey Doug the easiest i have found is to pull the inner bolt on the compression arms and drop the arms. this will allow the spindle to pivot out so you can pull the axle from the trans.

easyest way is to disconnect the lower compression arm from the frame, and from the strut holder thingy. maybe have to take off the upper a arm. been awhile.

I'm going to be pulling out an atx very soon. Axles have to be replaced, splines are different from mtx. I need to find the smoothest way to drop the atx, ditch the axles, and install new ones. I got a feeling this is going to be a bitch.

only reason i ask is because i hate messing with the suspension...ive done it so many times and the f'n boots/covers always rip on the control arms....its not that hard, i just thought that if i dropped the tranny a few inches, which would allow the axles to flex a little, then pull them out, but i dont know if there would be enough room to clear them or not.... ill just undo the suspension...thanks doug
