Well it sounds like valves tapping in an old Chevy, but it only does it when the car is in gear. If Im under the hood and raise the rpm,s, the only thing I hear are the injectors ticking. Now Ive seen some post about a tapping noise coming from the tranny(the guy that posted he found a fix, but never said what it was). Have any of you guys ran into this prob? Im good on all fluids, Im very religous when it comes to that. Like I said, it only does it when Im driving. I can hear it echoing off of objects Im driving buy. I dont know, maybe you do, lol.

Thanx guys

I've got a ticking coming from the tranny when I have the clutch pushed in. I'm almost positive mine is the throwout bearing. I just really don't feel like pulling the tranny again.

I second the CV joint. Also make sure your lugnuts are all tightened, or your wheel will wobble a bit and sound s/t like that. Its stupid yes, but its happened to me before emoji

Whats up sorry I did not post the fix got busy and thought I could get back . The situation is this the reverse brake synchro ring has a clutch material on it. hence the special fluid requirement. well it gets all deteriorated and worn causing this rattle, growl sound similiar to a bad throw out bearing. but does not change with clutch engagement or disengagement. In my case the noise came and went ,but always was gone in reverse.

could it be an exhaust leak? that's what mine was. just check the collector gasket and the flange gasket
