Alright guys before anyone says used the search button, I did, didn’t find what i was exactly looking for. Here’s the problem, cel puts out the P1390(power train manufacturer code). I know that means 1 of 4 things either the timing skipped one or more teeth, the camshaft sensor is bad/ Check crankshaft sensor, or try reseeding the pcm. Well changed the sensors with ones I know work for sure, reseeded the pcm and the timing was just redone and I’m sure isn’t off. what the car does is when it sits at an idle it sounds really bad makes this whub whub whub sound and the rpms jump from 500 to about 1500 (its random every time) cant figure out what’s wrong with it and its really driving me crazy. o yeah and I also changed the tb gasket and cleaned the tb out really good. Any help would be greatly appreciative. Thanks anyone who replies.

First ... this is the wrong section. 2nd. You just redid your timing ... huh. Your timing is off. Sounds exactly like what's wrong. The whub whub whub sound its very indicative of mechanical timing.

Yes the P1390 is the cam signal out of sync with the crank signal. You need to re-time your engine.

Hey, this is a bit old, but I am wondering if the P1390 would cause other codes to show. I know my timing is a bit off (crank tdc = both cams pointing a little low in the middle) but I have gotten the following along with the P1390: P0300, P0700, P0732, P1775. - Oh, I have stock everything still. I have reset the CEL, and now - without driving around - only the P1390 shows; but I am sure that if I drive around the others will come. If needed by anyone, I can provide 9 minutes of data logging on the timing and engine speed.

Yes. If timing is off you will misfire and all sorts of bad things. Pointing low? How many teeth are off center on the other when one of your sprockets are center? If you timing is off at all, don't drive the car!

Pointing low are both of the cams. With the crank shaft tdc, the OEM cam dots are pointing low. If I were to stop the cam points straight across from each other, then the cranck shaft would be about one tooth Before TDC. So, if one cam is center, so is the other cam to the other; but not to the cranck shaft.
Yeah, I don't really know how bad it is, but I haven't driven it since that day. I only start it up to clear and check codes.
