Whats up guys? My names Tray Kinnision, I'm from the bootheel of Missouri, I've been reading the site when I need help with all different things on my ride and have found it here so I decided hey I'd join to talk smack with everyone. My car has 148xxx miles on it, yes very high but I got it with 113xxx on it and it has ran nice for me since then. Only big problems were a shock was needed for passenger rear and my intake is a fender-mounted 1 so I got the engine flooded 1 night, damn puddles! LoL So it has ran me good but I do have a problem now that bothers me ...

It's a 96 RS automatic, when I take off with it on the floor and hold it til it shifts, when it does about 6300 or so, it sorta pops or something, I'd say backfire. I dunno what it is doing it, probably many things but I figured maybe some of you have had this problem and had it fixed. Someone told me the head may have a problem with it I dunno but when I'm tryin to haul some ass I gotta let off at about 5500 and go from there, so if anyone can help!

I haven't had this problem. But have you tried changing the spark plugs and spark plug wires to see if that may be your problem?

Do a tune up...dont forget the fuel filter. Have you had the injectors cleaned in the past 40,000 miles or have they been replaced at all. Possibly a fuel issue or tune up issue.

Where exactly are you located in the bootheel? I live about 9 miles south of the bootheel in AR.

When mine was an auto, I had the same prob, which I really think it isnt a problem, but just a "thing". I cant explain what it is, but I did everything I could think to loose the "6k farting" and never could. When I did the tranny swap, it never happened again. So I think its a normal thing for the auto's.

Well you see, when the flood happened I changed the plugs, no have yet to change the wires but plan upon it, whats a good brand to use? And do they add power or anything?

I have a feul filter I bought year ago or so but my step-dad and I couldnt find where to put it on LoL But he thinks the problem may just be that I'm losing fuel flow when my rpm's high that high, so I may have my filter put on soon, hopefully that will solve the problem. Thanks guys, any other tips just let me know. TrAy
