#8735, "Cleaning the cone air filter?????"

My friend told me to just wash the thing and put on some K&N oil charger or something. Now I've heard some bad shit about oiling the filter itself. Will washing have any effect on the actual filter element itself??? Are there any other way, or am I just better off buying another filter??? Thanks!!!!!!

I have been wondering this as well. I got the K&N on my AEM CAI and it wouldn't hurt to be cleaned. I know they have filter oil, but I dunno much about it. I heard u can just throw the filter in the washer.????? Dunno tho.

If it is a real K&N there is a recharger kit for like 9 bucks. The K&N needs to have the oil on it to work correctly. The oil catches the small particles that the filter can't.

Get the K&N recharger kit at an auto parts store. It comes with cleaner and oil. Spray cleaner on, let soak, the rinse water from the INSIDE of the filter towards the outside. This way particles don't get pushed further into the filter element. Just stick a hose on the inside of the filter to rinse it out...then let it dry. Then spray the K&N oil on it and let dry. Get the recharger kit that comes with oil in an aerosol can. There is one that has oil in a tube, and its hard and annoying to try to manually spread the oil evenly.

Hey the best thing i'v found is remove the filter, spray some simple green and let it soak, rince it with water, make sure it is clean if not repeat the step. next let the filter dry completly. once dry take the K/N filter oil and go back and forth on each row until the filter has turned red but don't put too much on. Just enough to make it red. If you do this your filter will last for a long time. I'v have been doing this with my motorcycle k/n filter for years and my CAI since I bought it.

i have the iceman, i used the K&N recharger kit, it worked fine, but i think i am going to get a new filter anyways. just be carefull not to put too much oil on, the first time i tried to clean it i put on too much and it was sucking the excess oil up into the intake, so i had to take it off and clean it again. it was a pain in the ass.
