#87334, "Removed Missing Link, car runs great now????"

ok, I finally figured out why the car wouldn't rev past 4000rpm. It was the Missing LInk! It was causing it to run real rich and not rev. Why would it do that? How long is the filter supposed to be coming out of the bottom of the ML? I know its a check valve, should it rattle when I shaake it like a PCV valve? Can I clean it with anything?

I still need something to hook to the MAP sensor for a voltage clamp, what should I do?

Thanks.

Plenty of threads here on how to clean your Missing Link and how to build a home brew FCD.

Because the missing link is a valve. Valves get stuck, stick, break. Though I don't think it was the culprit for your won't rev past 4k (that was definitely a bad connection with your MAP sensor but you probably fixed it when screwing around with the MS). The rich condition was caused by the MS not allowing the MAP sensor to see all the vacuum the engine was producing.

or maybe the ML gave no reading to the map sensor, the PCM saw a changing TPS, RPM and no change in MAP and decided the MAP sensor was broken... i dunno

your filter shouldnt be in the bottom of the ML. it should be on the side of it. if you have in the bottom, no wonder you had problems.
