#87218, "Can anybody help me install my ISC?"

Hello. Let me explain my problem fully. I have a 1996 Eclipse GS Auto for over a year now. It's been having a bad idling problem for the LONGEST time. Everytime I stop at a red light or stop sign or in traffic the car will idle lower, drop lower, and sometimes shut off. Here's what I've changed and looked at.

-Fuel Pump
-Cleaned TB with cleaner
-Wires
-Spark Plugs
-ECU

Still getting a shitty low idle problem. What the eff!!! I just ordered and recieved this ISC from ebay (to try and fix my problem)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7954657609&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT

Now my question is to you...is how do I install this? Where is it located on my 96 GS Automatic? How hard is it to install? If I can get pictures I would be greatly appreciated. Also if anybody is in the CT area, (Connecticut) that can provide local assistance to me, that would be greatly appreciated. I have been trying to get rid of this idling problem for over a year now, please help!

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

It's right on the side of the Throttle Bod (TB). Although, I didn't know the one from the turbo model also worked for the non-turbo model.

And the auction is clearly wrong. That is only for the 4G63 engine. It won't fit our 420A engine. Here is a tiny pic of ours:

The connector looks like this:

You might try removing the throttle body and take off the ISC (IAC) and TPS. You could then manually clean the ISC and throttle body with throttle body cleaner. Just be carefuly not to get cleaner in the electronic guts of the ISC. You should buy a throttle body gasket before attempting this, because the old one will break.

You never mentioned if you changed a fuel filter. You might want to try that as well. It's located under the car, right in front of passenger rear wheel. Not too difficult to replace, and something else you could check off the list. Also, how does the air filter look?

doesn't say which engine it is for. So how could you be 100%? If you have an auto-zone nearby, i would talk to them about it.

We would like to help but I am not sure what you want help on now. It looks like someone sold you the wrong IAC and you found the one for your car at autozone (I would have picked up a used one of this site but that's OK). to replace you just unplug old one switch out the IAC with the new one and plug back in (the screw is a T-20 star bit. It can be a bit of a bitch to get out so be careful). It's not necessary but as a general rule whenever I do electrical parts change I always unplug battery (it also resets ECU). Is that what you need?
