fellas, my 420 is a 99 so i cant do the key dance. i just had some welding done extremely close to the 2nd O2 sensor. the light didnt come on directly afterwards, i drove home, played with her a lil, then went out and like a mile down the road, i got a CEL. i got where i was goin, parked and shut her off, opend the hood, and checked the sensors that i know of, and nada. when i go top leave, she starts up just like the last time. i felt no difference in the pickup and she didnt sound sick, but i feel another post cummin.

im wonderin if a welding job really close to that O2 sensor woulda caused this, cuz satan charges 100bux for a datalog, and i dont have the cash for that shit.

is there a way i can check the 02 sensor??? so if it is that, i will know and not trip out about it all the time like i am now.

The o2 sensor could have been damaged. . .When it's a CEL you need to be able to get the code to find out for sure whats wrong. I wonder if the 98-99 guys used a 96-97 ecu if they could check the CEL with the key dance. Of course they would have to let the older ECU learn their car and find the problem but then it might show the CEL and flash the code. Hmm. . .

I have had a CEL for the past 3 weeks and the car isn't being harmed from it. It showed up after I installed my catback. I'm sure the problem is my 2nd o2 sensor as well. If its not hurting performance don't worry about it.
