#86463, "2.4 ?'s!!!"

Guys, Ive have searched for hours reading about the 2.4 swap b/c a guy that I know at a local junk yard has them for about $250, and he has several of them. Anyways, I had a few questions that I really never got a clear answer on.

1) Has anyone developed a pass. side motor mount?

2) Is there a problem with the lower radiator houses? If so, has anyone found a fix for it?

3) This is gonna sound stupid, but what is a windage tray (never heard of or seen one) and where would you purchase one? Is there any certain place in the pan where it should be placed?

4) Is it necessary to rotate the cam magnet and rewire the injectors? I thought that it was but in some of the post it was stated that it wasnt necessary? It seems as though it would be, but I thought that I would ask since I was making a post.

Bill, if you see this please feel free to give me any input on the subject!

Also, on the timing the 2.4 side is about half a tooth off correct? So, you mark the 2.4 side the same as the 2.0 side, then you time it with the #1 cylinder at TDC correct?? Thanks!

1) Has anyone developed a pass. side motor mount?

I don't know if anyone has, but I ended up using the stock 2gnt mount. 2 out of the 3 holes match up so you have to redrill the rear bottom bolt hole to move it over slightly. You also have to shim the bracket out some, and shave/grind off certain areas to clear the timing belt.

2) Is there a problem with the lower radiator hoses? If so, has anyone found a fix for it?

I used the 2.4 water pipe coming from the water pump and the stock 2gnt pipe from the radiator. You just have to bend the radiator pipe in various places and it will match up with the stock rubber hose.

*Ok I think it was the stock rubber hose. It got mixxed in with like 82437 other rubber hoses at the shop, but I think its the one from the talon.

3) This is gonna sound stupid, but what is a windage tray (never heard of or seen one) and where would you purchase one? Is there any certain place in the pan where it should be placed?

Isnt this like a crank scraper? I don't have one, but it is a good concept. It keeps more oil down in the pan and keeps the crank from slinging it all over. People have claimed it helps the engine rev faster... More importantly, IMO, you should have the pan baffled since the pan is quite deep and it is possible to uncover the sump id you're taking hard quick turns.

4) Is it necessary to rotate the cam magnet and rewire the injectors? I thought that it was but in some of the post it was stated that it wasnt necessary? It seems as though it would be, but I thought that I would ask since I was making a post.

Yes you have to take the Cam Angle Sensor out with a torx, file the locating nipples off the back, and retard it 90 degrees.

You have to rewire the injectors moving 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, and 4-1. This is quite simple by just resoldering the back wires. I have the wire match ups at the shop, but they're for a 95 harness. I don't know is the wire colors would be different.

Last you must swap wires 1 and 3 running to your coil.

~Disclaimer~ I don't have the car running yet as you can see in my latest thread. I think its just do to my timing being so far off, not paying attention to one of the cams being 180 deg out and thinking I should be on cylinder 2 for some odd reason. As far as I know this information is correct and if anyone sees something incorrect please correct it.
