#86067, "What does the back O2 sensor do?? is it necesary??"
im making a custom exhaust for my car and was wondering if its worth making a custom mount for it.... ive heard its only emission related and doesnt affect the performance of the engine?? is that true?....what does it actually control? thanks doug

search around a little bit here, in the gen section, and in the turbo section. there were like 2-3 big discussions about it a few weeks ago. just to sum a few things up, its been dyno proven that removing the rear sensor, or having a faulty sensor will pull timing, but most of the a/f and main stuff is taken off the front.

alright, i found this site... http://www.vfaq.com/mods/O2bypass.html but is that for dsm turbos? and im still a little confused...i dont want to have the sensor in the pipe if i dont have to...ive seen people say two different things...that the resistor mod is to completely eliminate the sensor, and ive heard that its supposed to be wired in with the sensor still in the exhaust?? which one works... i dont really care about the CEL, but i just dont want the car to be pulling timing...thanks doug
