#8606, "Airbox Mod"

Hey guys.
Instead of replacing my entire intake I just want to replace the filter box with a cone KN filter. I tried doing that but it seems that the filter just kind of "hangs" in place, supported only by the intake and its clamp. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to secure the filter to something so that it doesnt wobble and bounce around? Thanks.

DO NOT JUST STICK A KN ON THE END OF YOUR STOCK PIPE!!!!!
all the hot air from your engine will kill your power
do the cold air pvc mod(VERY CHEAP $10) or just a drop in KN. I did them both the pvc cold air intake did the most but with the rainy season I just put in a drop in KN.

Yeah, at least do the pvc intake. It does make a noticable diff. What i did on my car, is i kept the stock airbox, and took off the pipe on the air intake side of the box, under the fuse block. I then put a 3" pipe and a 90 degree elbow in there(pipe fits on really tight onto airbox), and brought down the pipe to where any other CAI would go. Now i did have to cut some of the metal off of where the box mounts to fit the pipe. And also there is a lil black piece of plastic where the wire harness goes to the block, and took that out( two 10 mill bolts). Its a really tight fit, and took some work, but i deff felt a good difference with it in. I put in a K&N filter also. I could prob take pics if peeps are interested on how it looks...
