Normal but still not good. Most flywheels/pressure plates/brake rotors are cracked like that after only a few miles of hard use.

Hit and miss. Some simply pop from abuse just like any other clutch.

anyone want to say i told you so?

if you go spec, go with the stage 4-5. no springs = none of these problems.

Those are heat cracks, you must have been slipping the clutch alot more then you ment to. It's common but not good being they can break there and give you more grief.

non-modular. its the clutch i got with a tranny swap from an old member when i did my rebuild. i say i "think" its a stage 3 cause thats what i was told, however the clutch disc doen't look like the spec stage 3 disc i've seen in pics. its a 6 puck design, whereas other pics of the spec stage 3 are 4 puck...? emoji

I have a custom southbend DXDF clutch made for me. Call up Andy at Southbend and tell him Veasna from CT sent you. His clutches are superbly made. I like the fact that it's a bolted modular set up for the ease of install and changing out the clutch.

you're gonna love it Tim. Fyramic is great, when you have the tendency to ride the clutch. It lasts so much longer. I had it on for a year now and I'm still spinning all 3 gears and snapping my neck. I've had CM4 and I can honestly tell you that Southbend far exceeds clutchmasters.

I may have to look into the Southbend clutch, I mean afterall they are only about 30-40 mins north of me. I'm doing a 5spd swap and this is gonna be the first time owning a car thats MTX. Im starting to read a lot of bad posts about spec clutches lately.

Gotta love winter

SBC-DXD clutches have a tendancy to overheart very easily and start to warp the pressure plate. I know (being from South Bend) that alot of people have this problem around here. Maybe it's not the same with the way our clutches are made but more than one person has told me this with cars ranging from honda to nissan to mitsubishi...

I'll stick with my Clutch Masters stage 4. The only PROVEN clutch for our application. Why do you guys put so much money into your motor and skimp on the clutch?

their new fyramic disks don't overheat like their standard DXD series clutch. I had the CM4 and the quailty of SBC new fyramic plates is much better than the CM. I beat on the DXDF and it still performs the way it did the first time I had it on. Plus when it goes, all you have to do is take it apart and just order a new disk. for a little over a hundred. Andy has been doing clutches for years and he know's his clutches. He makes them for pro racers and released the fyramic one to the public after having so much sucess with the one he made for a nascar vehicle.

well, either way it needs to be replaced and theres enough questionable to negative things floating around about spec to give me reasonable doubt. i guess the "stock" luk disc held up to some good abuse over the last year+ considering i bought it used. o well....onward and upward
