#85554, "map sensor W diode causing car to indicate lean on gauge? why"

well i got another 4.7 V zener diode. and i put it on my map sensor to use when i put my turbo on. its on correctly but it still seems to make the car a lil sluggish. and my air fuel gauge reads all the way lean when i step on it. even at WOT which it used to read rich. is this how it should be with this mod . i dunno .

91 civic hatch, homemade turbo+ LS motor = 12 sec street car.

Please, PLEASE refer to this thread. It actually contains good info. Like buy the missing link, or use the link to build a real FCD. jeebus.

is that his screen name? cause i am about to just buy one . this diode crap is making things not run right. ill buy his for 30 ship if he will sell.

but really. all the diode does is dump voltage to grnd after 4.7 V correct? so why would it be affecting my car like it is? do our stock MAP sensors read higher than 4.7 V to run right? thats the only thing i could think of?

the zener is not your problem.. what do you people think is in the black box, a zener diode or similar circuit

you ever think your lean cause your not givin enough fuel.

A correctly designed and implemented voltage bleedoff circuit, maybe? It's not just a zener. Simply throwing one diode into the map sensor harness is NOT THE RIGHT WAY TO DO IT.

You of all people should know better.
