x inches above the bend or x inches below the bend?

I've seen a few pictures of engines on this board that has it below the bend, this right?

I'm not really sure, hope this helps: Mine is placed so it is at the front of the valve cover on the driver's side. I am guessing the cut is about 3-4" above the bend. Towards throttle body being the top. Check my sig pic. It may help.

I put mine where typical water level would go If I was in a puddle......thats what the mechanics suggested, anyway. If the water level goes up THAT high past near your valve cover...I think water in your CAI is the LAST thing on your mind! emoji

Anyone else? For some reason, I don't think this is right. I thought they were supposed to be on the same plateau as the throttle body.
