#8539, "a tranny/shifter question"

What could/would cause my shifter to become notchy all of a sudden? I had the fluid changed and checked. Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated.

This could be caused by a number of things. If the cables are dry (not lubed) it will get notchy. Does it seem to be notchy from front to rear or side to side or both? Is it all gears or only some. Let me know. If you want to email me directly that is fine too! emoji

It was fine until about a month ago, maybe a little less. It shifted smooth enuf but the shifter had some slop in it from front to back and left to right. Then it started getting notchy, So i had the fluid changed. It still was notchy after the fluid change. Then i installed a new shifter and it is REALLY notchy now. Does a short throw shifter and urathane bushings have any effect on this? It goes into all gears fine, it's just not SMOOOTH like a month ago. WCould the wrong tranny fluid cause this? Maybe it won't see the 200,000 mile mark after all ;-( ... I appreciate any and all suggestions...
