What kind of timing advance should I expect at WOT? Does knock cause it to drop? My fuel trims, both short term and long term, are usually showing negative in pocketlogger so I doubt I am running lean otherwise it would be increasing the trim, right? I can't seem to get above 20 for timing advance at WOT and it usually drops down a point or two between 4-5k RPMs. Under light/normal acceleration I have seen low 40s for timing advance. Is there something I can do to help my car at WOT or am I wasting my time worrying about nothing?

From all the datalog runs I've done, WOT timing likes to start in around 14-17 degrees advance, then slowly climb as RPM increases, and its around 20 degrees at or close to redline..I'd say your timing numbers are right on. Unless you are boosted, or you are running very lean N/A, there is very little chance to have any detonation. Unless you reprogram the ECU, the Howell ECU, or other aftermarket ignition device, you have no control of your ignition timing. Even when the ECU detects knock, from what I've seen firsthand, it only pulls like 1-2 degrees at most.
