#84681, "Cold starts"

Recently Ive noticed something about my car that kinda scares me now. When I start it now, I have to give it gas to let it idle for awhile, or it will shut die. And die I mean it wont start for another 2-3 minutes. I continue to crank it over, and it gives a few sputters...nothing...sputters...nothing....sputters, then I give it gas and it starts, sounding cam'd, then idles, and will idle fine. When it sputters like this, I notice there is gas around the header/downpipe gasket. What I dont understand is, I give it gas and it will start, but when it continues to sputter and not go, there is gas there, and not start. is it not getting gas? or to much gas? Its done this 3-4 times so far.

Cliff notes

Car starts, will shut off after 15-20 seconds if not given gas.

When it shuts off, wont turn back on until I give it gas, and its like 3 minutes.

Gas is on the gasket between the header and downpipe when turning it over and giving no gas.

compression is good, mileage at 116K, got new plugs, wires, injector cleaning service, ran some seafoam through the system, everything was running great. then when it started getting cold, it started doing thing. the gasket is where its leaking from.

check your idle control.

or it could just be:

a cold battery

turn the car "on" and let the pump prime before starting. see if that makes a difference.

many possibilties.

it may be your IAC.

if it doesn't want to run while really cold, replace it imo.
