#84446, "time soon for a timing belt... what else should i do?"
pretty soon i will be changing the timing belt on my girls 97gs... we have done a few performance mods but kept it pretty mild overall... magnecore wires, bosch platnum +4 plugs, short ram intake, and perfomance exhaust can (matrix can, banazai resonated tip)
i am used to the 4g63 myself, i rarely do anything 420a related so any tips on upgrades while i change the timing belt would be welcomed.
i have considered cams, underdrive pulleys, and cam gears... but i dont know much about the n/a engine so what is worth the cost?

If you have to spend money on a slow ass 420A, then build the engine for $1000 with forged internals and buy a turbo kit for 2500+. Othewise your just wasteing money.

as far as pulleys go id look at this one before considering anything else http://exileracing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=215_248_234&products_id=399 you never need to use a pulley remover after installing it. it slips on, bolts into place, and thats it. This is the only pulley we use, and have had nothing but compliments on it.

i can vouch for the pulley SilverNT is talking about, he talked me into buying one and it was definitely a nice install when the thing just slid on perfectly. my engine definitely revs a lot easier in the higher rpm's now from it as well.
