#8436, "Nasty Rumor...... AWD 420A??"

I heard this from a fellow 2GNT guy last night..
Apparently rumor has it that Chrysler may be coming out with a new version of the PT Cruiser that is AWD....It will be called the GT Cruiser. It will still use the 420A block, which means we may have a method of obtaining AWD on our cars. Since our frame is built for it, and we can easily fit the rear end of a GSX in place of our stock one, all we need is that tranny and we will have an AWD system for our cars.

It is a rumor, nothing is set in stone yet, but if anyone finds information on this, let us all kno emoji

I've also heard unconfirmed reports that the 92 or 93 1g AWD tranny will mate to our engine, and that the auto tranny was originally designed for an AWD minivan of some sort, and can actually has the connections for a tranfer case, making it theoretically possible to have auto AWD.

Wouldn't it be nice.... But i think it'd be easier to fabricate RWD with some domestic driveline (a la Buscher) that work in a full AWD driveline.

Well, Buschur turns his engines sideways, so the timing belt is facing the front and the tranny is at the rear of the engine bay. That would be way too much work for the average enthusiast. His old 1G RWD Talon had a custom hood to fit the engine, and his new Talon....well its not a Talon. The intercooler is bigger than the windshield emoji

And RxR_eclipse.... I take it you've never been in a turbo AWD DSM before... If you had, you would know exactly why.

The AWD DSM guys can rev as high as they want and just drop the clutch and the car is going to take off with very little wheel spin.

It's not going to ba an AWD right now. Maybe he meant after his tranny blows he might get that. He won't tell me much about his car so.....But I know he has slicks for the front and some bougt some skinnies for the rear so that doesn't like an AWD set-up. Maybe he meant in the future..hmmmmm Ray?
