Okay, after searching I have come these clues about the neon 3.55 tranny swap...
1. it helps the turbo spool faster and longer gears for better speeds and boosting.
2. better gas mileage emoji
3. its a all around stronger/better trans for us ifyour turbo'd.

now for my questions,
1. you have to change the bellhousing....
okay, well, does my 2gnt bell housing bolt right up to it? or do i need to mod it a little with drilling new holes and tapping them or what?
2. i have a spec stage 3 i originally bought for the 2gnt tranny, will this modular clutch still fit?
3. which counter weight do i cut? anyoen have pics of what it should look like?
4. do i just bolt my tranny mounts on and use those? do they just 'bolt right up' or am i needing to mod those too?

any pics of this will help and and asnwers to my above questions really too!
i found an 02 non RT 3.55 neon tranny for 250 bucks. it only has 5600 miles on it and i dont wanna pass this up, but not if its gonna be a major ass project. LMK some info on my questions please!
thanks in advance!

everything will bolt right up
it's the same tranny except that the neon used a wire clutch whuile our cars are using a hydraulic clutch
everything is swappable

second generation neon model 2001 and UP are also using a hydraulic clutch I'm not sure if it will be a direct bolt on or not however but chances are very high that you won't need to a chance a single bolt to swap that tranny in your car

it bolts right up. An '02 trans is identical to a 2gnt trans, save the taller gears. you might need to swap the shift select levers, but i don't think you do on an '02.

I have a neon trans in my turboed gs that came out of a 96 neon that I paid $250 for. The main reason I went with the neon trans is right after I built my engine the trans went out. I couldn't find a eclipse trans any where around here for less than $850. But I could find the neon transmisions just about every where four under $350.

I had to change the bellhousing, shift levers, speed sensor and the trans mount. It wasn't a difficult job. The hardest part though was getting the shaft bearing to go into place in the bellhousing.

I like the trans fairly well, it is great on the highway (85 mph at 3000 rpms) which is were I do most of my driving. The only thing that takes a little getting use to is first gear. I have the Spec aluminum flywheel and cluch setup. Taking off in first gear at low rpms there is very little torque.
