Alright so i went to get my car smogged and figured it would be alright because i only had an AEM CAI and i put my stock pipes on. But they passed a new bs law here i guess that requires them to hook up a comp to OBD2 and scan to see if the emissions systems are working (EGR,o2 sensors, catalyst). I recently replaced my battery so my ecu was reset. The smog comp said that the systems were inop and that i need to reprogram my ecu. The smog guy said drive on the freeway for 10min at 50mph. I did this and plus regular around town driving to get to the place. I went 3 times!!! and still says they are inop.PLEASE HELP!!! I'm driving with expired tags!!LOL!

PS:1997 eclipse rs atx 95k and i have no performance chips

The computer keeps an additional error code stored that shows that the power has been disrupted (battery change) within 50 key cycles (car starting).

Driving around is not going to fix the problem. The car just needs to be used for a couple of days and the error code will disappear. If it applies to your car, you can do the key dance to see the codes. It should display

12 Power Disruption
55 End of Codes

Here's the procedure for keydance (not sure if it applies for your year):

To check the PCM codes, insert the key into the ignition and switch the key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within a 5 sec. time period. Then count the Engine light flashes. The number of flashes represents the trouble code. There is a slight pause between the flashes representing the first and second digits of the code. Longer pauses separate indivdual trouble codes. All codes will end with 55 which signifies End of Codes / No detected failure.

He's right, there are 3 data monitors that require about 1-3 hours of driving around at different speeds to work properly.

If you have a faulty sensor or something, you'll get a CEL at the end of the datamonitor recalibration period. As the smog tech and he will show you in his CARB manual exactly what systems I'm talking about.

i thought it was 3 drive-arounds. not just starting it up and shutting it off, but driving for awhile, then on the fourth one it should be good. that is if everything is alright. but i'm not even sure.
