i know that code 25 is for the iac motor and i have done the jeep tb mod according to the metaljim writeup, 1 inch from the base with the 2gnt sensor and the jeep tip. my question is, are you guys still having issues with the code 25's afterwards, or do ya have to just keep adjusting the tip on the iac? i've adjusted it 20 times already and haven't been able to find the "sweet spot"...chris

25 doesn't nessicarily indicate a problem with the IAC. It could mean that you just have a vacuum leak. How does the engine idle? High? Make sure that the port on the intake is sealed and that your new gasket is sealing well.

i welded shut the small hole in the intake and rtv'd the tb to the upper mani, dried overnight. i made sure the runner gasket was in good shape also when it went back together. i coated it with moly grease and tightened nicely. the only thing i think it could be is on the throttle shaft, the guy i bought it from cut it too long and there is a bit of a gap. i tried rtv on that also but it didn't seal i guess. i pulled it back off for now, i'll toy with it later. what do ya think? it revs allright when accelerating but at idle it will sit at 4k, jump to 5k, drop back down to 1-2k and hunt around there for a minute, then jump back up to 4k and sit there. VERY annoying at stop lights. i plugged the vacuum hose on the side also...chris

With the TB out - make sure that the butterfly closes all the way. The easiest way I've found to do this is to hold it up to one eye and cover the sides - so you're like peeking into it, then point it towards a light. If there is light coming through then you may need to adjust your plate a bit.

Next time you install it, see if the idle goes down to normal when you close the throttle by hand. Sometimes the throttle cable can pull a bit on the throttle. With mine, I had to leave lots of slack in the line so the throttle would close all the way.

Some Jeep TBs come with a vac port right at the base. If this is true for yours, make sure that it is capped off.

With an idle that wacky, a vacuum leak should be very easy to hear. It'll have a hissing sound to it.

cool, i'll do that. i was gonna find a way to fix the tension on the spring also. i don't like the slop in the gas pedal...chris

I really gotta take a picture of the helper spring I use on mine now. The orignal spring I had in the writeup worked fine for months, but after about a year the tension was just crappy.

I ended up getting a small spring and attaching one side of it around one of the bolts that hold tha AIC cover on. Then I latched the other side around part of the original spring - where it hooked onto the throttle shaft. It made the pedal more firm. It feels much better now. I've had that helper spring in there for over a year. I bought it at Sears. Just pick a few from that display wall of springs and one of them should work well.

what'd ya say you send me one of those babies cuz i went to sears, home depot, osh, kragen, and auto zone looking for a decent spring setup. i was thinking i'd have to modify the jeep throttle shaft back in there somehow. is it tighter than stock, cuz i think i'd prefer that actually? let me know...chris
