#83725, "Question about a rebuild. Need anwers A.S.A.P"

I don't know if this is the right place for this being that it's kind of a turbo question, but not completely. Anyway, here goes, I am pretty good at building engines and have done quite a few, but my knowledge of turbos is extremely limited. Let me see if I get this right, a higher compression engine w/turbo can reach the same power levels as a lower compression engines w/turbo at lower boost levels. So technically if I wanted to build my engine with the 10.5:1 engine kit from Howell and do a few other turbo supporting mods before I actually get the turbo kit, I wouldn't be at risk of anything when I actually do get the kit and install it as long as I get the boost levels low. Please tell me if I'm wrong.

turboing a higher comp motor gets to be REAL finicky when trying to tune properly. thats why not many people on have done it, i think maybe one or two if im not mistaken... the benefit just doesn't seem to outway the effort. by and large turboing lower comp is much easier and more predictable.

I could see that becoming a problem, but we aren't talking about an extremely high compression engine. Stock the 420a is what 9.6? I know that a ton of people have turboed there stock engine with no problems. 10.5 is not that far of a stretch from stock, with forged internals, and with the right monitors and controls it can be done, right? BTW do you know who the people are that have done it and are they members of this site?

off the top of my head, i cant remember who it was.. icould wrong all together too. But from what i uunderstand with all my reading on here, 10.5 is perfectly doable, but it just gets a lot more tricky with boost. im not the expert on the high comp stuff tho...

do a search for high compression in the turbo section... you will find a lot of good info.
or start a high comp post in the turbo section... you'll get more hits there.
