I installed the jeep throttle body acording to the write up posted. I also installed a ported/polished intake mainfold. My problem is high idle of 1700 at start up and 1100 after the car has warmed up. I installed the intake maniflod using copper spary on the gaskets and using teflon tape on the air sensors that screw into the intake manifold. I tested all the sensors and have no check engine light. i used silcone sealent on all the throttle body gaskets. I tig welded shut the extra hold in the intake where you use the rubber button. I also powder coated the intake manifold and throttle body. I powder coated all of the surfaces on the throttle body and intake manifold. I had to sand a little of the powder coat from inside the throttle body to get the buitterfly to fit in correctly. When you hold up the closed throttle body to the light you get a small light ring all around the butterfly (maybe .5 mil at the most). I hooked up that black plastic hose from the throttle body to the extra port on the back of the intake manifoled. I even reset the computer by leaving the possitve side unplugged for almost an hour when i was putting on the throttle body. I did notice that one of the butterfly was a little loose in the tread tightening than the other (what i mean is it felt like the threads were not new, tight and sharp feeling). Did i miss something or did i screw myself over. I cant feel, see or hear any air leaks. maybe i should remove the IAC and fully block off the inside port to see if thatt changes anything. But right now i'm stumped and wanted to know if anyone had any other ideas.

You've got to remove the IAC motor and unscrew the tip a time or two in order to set the Base IAC motor position.

I removed the IAC and it fits perfectly into the housing. The tip measures exactly 1" high from the base. From other posts i have read this what was suggested to make sure the tip height was. But as i'm thinking about it, when i had to cut out the butterfly shaft i overcut it a little to the get buttery fly to fit into the shaft. Could this maybe be causing the possible air leak. this is the only thing i can think of. After i run my errands i will take out the shaft and add some sealent to the opening next to the butteryfly to see if this changes anything, or does anyone elase have some suggestions?

this is a little off the topic but how did the power gain feel? was it worth it?

the engine is finally ideling correctly. It was ideling at about 1000 when i got home but i think it was doing that because it was in the mid 20's outside. When i started it up after work it was ideling fine. It was the small gap i had between the shaft and the butterfly that i had. it was just enough pin hole to screw with the MAP sensor ajnd goof with the idel. I used a small bead of 5 min epoxy to fill the pin hole and that worked. As for power all i have on the car is short ram, P/P intake manifold and jeep throttle body. The ass o meter says their is a significant gain. I'm not sure how much gain but i can tell a differance in the powerband. From my standpoint it was a worthwile upgrade.

sweetness...is this the only snag you ran into along the way? It seems i will finally be getting one, so i am reading up on it

I've searched and i can't find anything but i just did the jeep tb conversion and it whistles constantly until i step on the gas. It whistles at idle and when i let go of the gas. What is it? Could it be the IAC motor tip screwed on to far?

in case u didn't notice, u revived an old thread... but my jeep tb whistles like a mofo too, but it only whistles around 3K rpm.

Anyone know anyone who can help me tune this in the Pittsburgh area (Greensburg)?

Mine whistles when i turn on the car and it doesn't stop until i step on the gas..then it stops whistleing then it starts whistleing again when i let go of the gas...where is that thread? i want it to whistle when i step on the gas not when i'm not stepping on it like it does now..its annoying and high pitched. what can it be? sounds like its comming from my iac motor..

the problem i have with mine is the idle wants to stick. but I can push the throttle back under the hood or pull back on the gas petal and it'll stop. I think the spring is shot
