hey, whenever i start my car up (usually on colder mornings) but still a lil on warm 1's..this bad ass crunching sound is comin from my engine bay..i tried to lean in and here exactly where it was comin from but i coudlnt really tell...but to my guess i would say the tranny...it sounded pretty far down and toward the back, exactly where the tranny is..but its a pretty awful sound and its kinda scarin me a lil bit lol ..and when i shift its pretty loud 2 i dunno if that helps (manual)..umm i think thats it, thanks for any responses

Does it make it when you drive? Turn? Any other times when the sound comes? Does the sound only happen while you START the car, or continue once its run?

If it only happens when you start it, it could be worn/broken teeth on the starter or flywheel.

well it doesnt AS im starting my car, but like after while its warming up..umm it does it for a little bit while the cars still cold..so for a few minutes while drivin but i cant really hear it over my muffler..and then every once in awhile i could hear it a lil bit while im driving..i hope that helps...so MOSTLY it just does it while its not fully warmed up yet

I also notice a sound when I start the car on a COLD mornings, when I revved the car from under the hood I notice the cam gear cover is where the sound was coming from.

nah its not that, the 1 time i stuck my head down by the tranny and it was def. comin from somewhere in that area...its such a weird sound i dont even know how to describe it

does it sound like if I were to crush a metallic bag of chips, or if I were to crush like a handful of bones, or nothing like that?

Don't work for the system, Let the system work for you.

throw out bearing... mine does it too, goes away after a good warm up and my 1st and 2nd gear shifts really bad with a crazy shake!
