im getting some major leakage out of the boot that comes out of the front of the tranny. before there was nothing, now its dripping out. i can only think of 1 thing it could be. domestic master mechanic friend of mine said 'hey, brake fluid will work like clutch fluid, lets put some in.' before i could say yes/no/fuck off he starts pouring it in. this is when i was low, and had no leaks. now 3 months into it im getting this leak, and all i have is brake fluid. was this a bad idea? i can get clutch fluid here no problem, but at the time i couldnt shift and all i had was that.

also, how would i go about fixing it? some sealant? new boot?

brake fluid = "clutch fluid," serves both purposes

its that blinker fluid you need to be careful about..

as for the leak... its probably leaking at your slave cylinder... mine needed tightening a while back, foolishly had a shop do it for me because i didnt have tools but its easy, assuming thats where its leaking from

It's definately the clutch slave cylinder. The best way to tell if you need to replace it is by pulling off the black rubber piece on the end of the clyinder. If the rod is full thick black fluid then it has to be changed. Then there's the clutch master cylinder. The master cylinder ususally tends to leak inside the firewall when it's no good. That's where mine was leaking. I used a write up I found on dsmtuners to change both about two weeks ago. It took me a few hours to change both. The slave was a little harder to change than the master but I was still able to change both with no problems. The only thing hard about changing the one you probably have to replace is that the thin metal line that runs to it is fragile and bends easy so you have to be careful when removing the bolts. And it's hard to be gentle with the bolts since they are usually rusted and hard to break loose. GOOD LUCK
