my wifes rs has been drinking oil for a while but there is never any on the ground. so i kept checking and adding. the other day she noticed her drivers fenderwell was full of oil and the car had none. about 40k miles ago the head gasket was changed because there was an oil leak on the pass side back of the block. now i see oil on the drivers back. but cant figure how it got from there in to the fender well. even if the rear main was the problem. the valve cover has a leak also. where else should i look how did it get into the finder and not all over under the car?

All I can suggest is try to duplicate the leak while parked. Let the car idle for like 20 minutes and see if there are any drips. If nothing, then hold the throttle open and let the car rev to 3k for a minute at a time. Eventually, you should be able to squeeze a drip out of it. I had a very mysterious drip that I could not figure out. I could never find where it was coming from. I had to put the car up on jackstands and rev the engine to get anything to come out. Reving it will build oil pressure and help squeeze the oil out.

Revving it while cold will work even better, if its leaking from a pressurized area.

if its on the driver's side, (and its a manual) it could be trans fluid. I'd check it. if its an ATX, then the red would give it away if it were.
