Alright, me, my friend, and his brother (who has the fastest camaro ive ever seen) are gonna bore my throttle body. How much should we bore out of it? And also, should what is involed in porting and poslishing my intake manifold? He said he would do both for $10. Not a bad PRICE!!

AFX and Howell only bore the throttle bodies to 55mm, but someone on the asog board has bored his and others out to i think 58mm. you have to do more than just bore out the throttle body though you have to replace the butterfly valve with a larger one as well (correct me if im wrong here guys). As far as porting the intake manifold, look a few posts down and check the archives, there you will find plenty of info on the topic

does your friend own, work at, or have access and to a machine shop and machining knowledge? If not I would have some one else do the throttle body. The manifold on the other hand is pretty hard to mess up. Just look out for the obvious stuff like making sure you clean up all the metal shavings etc.

Yes Howell replaces it with a true 55mm butterfly. I don't know hoy you guys that do it yourself get a good seal. Or maybe you just aren't going all the way out to 55mm.

im with you michael. I dont see how you can bore out a tb to 55mm and still use the 52mm plate. I mean you could but with a 3mm gap all the way around, you engine would constanly idle @ 3000rpm+ while you coasted, just from the air leaking around the plate. Mine ran at 2000-2500rpm with a poorly cut howell plate and i barley had 1mm or less in places.

Yea, my friend has a personal machine shop with all the tools and crap. I dont really know all that much about stuff like that, im just there for the moral support! His dad builds Top Fuel Dragester Engines. So he will probably end up helping do it, cuz he knows what he is doing. So where can i get a new butterfly vavle from? And about how much would it be? Also, what other hardware would i need after we get it bored?
