I'd probably check my plugs, then wires, then coils. Really anything spark related.

trust me, i've gone through a lot of trouble shooting, starting with new coil, wires, plugs, ecu, iac motor, injectors, injector cleaner, pcv valve, cleaning out the tb and changing tb gasket, air filter, grounding kit, etc etc... i'm sick of tryin to do it myself and need an extremely confident mechanic because i know my way around my car pretty well so its definitely not an obvious problem at all, i've already taken it to 3 mechanics including a mitsubishi dealer garage and they were no help

Where in LA are you located?

I'm not a good mechanic, and I will probably belittle you and make fun of you, but I'll take a swing at it if you need help. emoji

Road/Race Engineering in Santa Fe Springs is the best DSM shop around here, but they hate 2GNTs and there is at least a 6 week waiting list to get in.

i'm in south pasadena, but OC's not too bad, hoepfully not farther than say... cerritos, and i work out in santa monica, i guess glendale/la canada and torrance would make my square of where i'd be willing to go... yeah i kno of RRE and yeah i also know they prefer GS-T's 2gnt's or GS-HRC/GS-Star but yeah i've been wanting to get a datalogger, but money's kinda been tight, so i haven't been able to check the vitals, i had them scan it at mitsu dealer, but that was w/ my bad ecu, so the data they got isn't dependable, basically the only thing i know is, that it doesn't seem to be a problem within the ignition, COULD be fuel (or maybe timing?) related, codes i'm getting are 12, 43, 25, sometimes 31, 55, and yeah i've read what each of them are many times.. not the injectors, picked up a grounding kit to eliminate bad ground, threw in an optima battery, TB gasket and swapped the iac, checked tps which was within spec, and cleaned the TB, haven't yet checked my o2 sensors... and its late, so i can't think of what else...

DUDE you are like a drive down Rosemead away from me (montebello), TheDawg ( Santa Fe springs) , Or Clay ( alhambra).

Where did you buy the sensors? I know people get them at autozone and napa and assume they work. Happened to a friend. I just let him have a spare I had and it worked, unlike the "new" autozone one.

Check it. The TPS as well, and even the MAP ( why not?).

yeah well car is at a friends dad's smog place right now... if they can't figure it out by the end of the week, i'll hit you guys up... but i didn't get any new sensors, i used my multimeter on my tps and transition looked smooth and appeared to operate fine, o2 sensors i haven't checked yet at all, nor the MAP... at speed though, car seems to run fine... idle even doesn't noticeably stutter, but exhaust smells a bit rich, neutral idles high, in gear idles around 800-900 and listening to the exhaust at idle sounds a little erratic

have you replaced the coolant temp sensor? On the water neck under the radiator cap? Solved my misfire once. ECU also uses coolant temp as a gauge of internal temps and adjusts fuel accordingly. Might be something to try. Runs about $20 at Autozone and takes about 5 minutes to change with a crescent wrench.

Good luck man. emoji

One of them is for your gauge the other is for your ECU.

BTW what dealer was this? Theres a reason we call them SATAN.

where exatly are you? If you want theDawg to give it a shot e-mail him or something. He is a busy guy and all but he is cool. I was just playing with that brutal raw meat eating thing.

If anything I can try and help. Im on campus right now though.

welp, he says smog computer isolated problem to a bad ecu (yeah its still in the shop) this is the used ecu that i swapped in a few months ago and it didn't seem to have any problems in the beginning... i guess the obdII scanner isn't able to access some of the info from the ecu, not to clear on how smog comps interface w/ obdII's....

ok... FINALLY got the car back, but still same problems, only lost the 43 misfire CEL code but the car doesn't seem to run any differently. my car is early 96, had the round pins for the coil harness (i think thats an identifying characteristic?) so obviously, this mechanic had it for 4 weeks total and got nowhere with it... i'm willing to try anyone that can GUARANTEE me to specifically find out what the problem is... (sorry if i sound kind of demanding but i'm a bit frustrated) my aol im sn is iamadamshing and my email is byakko125@gmail.com my lines are open! and i live in south pasadena, CA so hopefully someone close... i'm unemployed at the moment so i'm free all day, my garage has pretty much any tools you'd need including air compressor and airgun so anyone that can help, probably just need to bring yourself and maybe a datalogger or somethin THANKS!

hahah uhm well, if you like, can rig it up to my torque wrench and let you know... if it goes that high, i'd probably need to somehow connect a bunch of torque wrenches inline and add their collective settings? hah.. i'm tired.. it led to babbling, but seriously, anyone up to see if they can figure out my problem? i can come to you too.. i'm prolly just gonna get a pass under the table first just so i can get my tags, but i'd still like to figure out this problem...
