#81933, "hp gains from no PS/AC belt?"

hey guys i'm currently stuck driving without PS and AC b/c my PS pump is leaking. i jsut left off the belt unti i can get a replacement pump. I was just wondering how big a difference in power this makes. maybe it's just in my head but it feels like the car pulls a little harder. of course i wouldn't want to drive without PS and AC on a regular basis but i wouldn't mind taking off the belt for a night at the tracks.

anyways just wondering. anyone ever do a couple runs to compare times with and without the belt? emoji

well, my belt popped off halfway down the track, does that count? I think that's happened to most 2gnt's tho'. but yea, the time that the belt popped off was actually my fastest run ever. coincidence? emoji

Hahah yes indeed you will. My g/f's grand am is a fine example, when I drive that thing I'm like WHOA hello P/S.

I actually like driving without the P/S. Yeah its a bitch at low speeds, but its not like you can't get used to it.

As for power difference, maybe 3 hp or so. That is a rough guess. It should free up SOME power, but I imagine it won't be too much. Maybe enough to see 0.05 to 0.1 sec improvement in the 1/4 mile, maybe...

It's just a guess, but I think it's not too far off (say 2-5 hp, or something like that)

yea ive been driving without ps/ac for awhile now too. its not really horrible but i do miss ps, with wider tires it grabs alot more. it does free up alot of power though for sure, even more with aftermarket udp
