Hey here's what I'd do, either buy a shortblock and save more money for the bad ass head, or fix whatever is leaking or is wrong with the bottom end and buy a bad ass head set up. If you want power now, go with the head components, and make sure the bottom end is going to last until you have enough money for a shortblock. Or if you just want the car to be stronger in a more practical approrach and not gain as much power, get the shortblock from howell or rebuild the shit out of your stock block. I just did my head. Port and polish, Crower stage 2 cams, Crane Cam gears, Crower Valve spring and titanium retainers, ARP Headstuds, Rev standard size racing valves, SBI Rocker and Lashers, AFX UDP, Ported and polished intake manifold, 60mm throttle body, AEM CAI. This will probably be over Your $2500, but I ported and polished all of my stuff. Saved tons of money!, but go with the things that are harder to do first, like head components, you have to take out the head to port and polish it, put cams in it, and so on. You don't have to take the head off to put a Cold air intake or an UDP on it though. So get you priorities. I'm going to buy the 2.2 shortblock after winter because I enjoy taking my car apart. (Bullshit) But you don't get any faster looking at car parts do you.
