Within the past month i've had to fill my coolant reservior twice, both times it has been bone dry. I do not have any sort of leaks that i can see as of right now. I have noticed a small amount of white smoke from the tail pipe on certain days, but its nothing substantial. Am i looking at a headgasket problem again? Any rational help is appreciated.

Does the smoke go away after the car warms up? How's your oil look? Hopefully not like chocolate milk! Let me know and we will go from there. emoji

So now at 44 what the hell do I do?

no, the smoke doesnt go away once warmed up. It doesnt smoke all the time, only certain times. The last time i noticed was after a long drive home(5+ hours). When i romp the car it smokes as well, but thats a given with 154xxx miles. I guess its getting to that point..rebuild time..... again.

after a litte research, for roughly 900 bucks i can rering the motor with new bearings and such, melling oil pump, pt clutch and tob, reworked head, gaskets, oil, shop fees(doing the work myself), and a few other minor things. Time to start saving for sure.

Chef,
How's your temp? Does it seem like it is overheating? Sometimes when coolant "disappears", for no apparent reasoon it is because it is actually boiling away in the block. That drive could have been part of the cumulative problem. Overhot and that causes the oil to thin and then it goes to shit from there... Let me know?

The car only overheats when im driving through the mountains on a hot day, it will start to buck/hesitate and overheat. Other than this problem the car runs very cool, a bit under the center line on the temp gauge. I still need to check my oil, but im guessing the headgasket is going again..sucks.

My car is the same way. Its been like that for 2 years now. Its doesnt over heat or anything. I just learned to live with it and keep an eye on it. My reservoir it always empty... lol I flushed my raditor and filled it up over the summer and there was plenty in there when i drained it. My car doesnt smoke, overheat, leak, and the oil always looks good when i change it. I dont really drive it hard, so I dunno what the deal is with mine.
