Yes I would say t is when they are relatively easy to do yourself! Just make sure that you relieve fuel system pressure before you pull the injector out of the rail and don't smoke while doing this! Don't need any screaming Alphas. emoji

So now at 44 what the hell do I do?

Do you know where the injecotrs are located? If you do, and you have some basic tools (ie; a socket set and a 12 pack) you can change the injectors yourself. You might also make a post in the sale/wanted forum here to see if anyone has a set of stock injectors for sale. A lot of turbo people will upgrade theirs and you could get a complete set for cheap. All you have to do is get the fuel rail disconnected from the intake manifold and the injectors just pull out with a pop. Pick up a Chilton's manual (or cheaper still, download the service manual from Dino's sig) and it will show you how to do it yourself. Just be careful like Pappy said and depressurize the rail or you'll get some gas spraying out of the lines.

Good luck!

Second, by imitation, which is easiest;
and third by experience, which is the bitterest."

That seems high. You can do it yourself or even provide the injectors to your mechanic. I have some low mileage stock injectors if you want to buy them.

PM, IM, or email me.

That sounds like way too much to me... I mean taking your time you could have it done in under an hour... emoji

It's not really that hard to change them... hardest part is getting the upper intake off...lol, and it aint that hard really.

ahahaa that guy is fucking NUTS. all it requires is you unbolt the fuel rail from the lower intake plenium (2 bolts), undo the fuel line from the rail (2 bolts) and just lift the entire assembly out. then take off the clip, shove the new injector in, replace clip, and just drop and bolt everything in. maybe 30 minutes...maybe.

oh, and a good way to get rid of all the fuel, is to use the test port

It's far easier to take off the upper intake. That way you can make sure that the new injectors are seated correctly in the lower intake.

And different years have different clearances... on my 99 for instance it's damn near impossible to get to the fuel rail bolts without taking off the upper intake.

So shut the fuck up. emoji

I had no problem getting my rail and injectors out without removing the upper intake mani. unhook the harness, unhook and move the throttle cable and you can get it out no probs.

Again, it's much safer to remove the upper intake... especially if you havent done it before like this guy!

With the upper off you can be sure everything is in place.. Gas is not something to fuck around with.

If you have small hands you can change out injectores in short amount of time. My best was 15 minutes to take out stockers and put in 30ibers.

There's no rocket science in replacing the injectors.

No, you don't have to take off the upper intake manifold. Throw a little "assembly grease" (vasoline) on the injector o-rings, wiggle them in until you feel them seat, and then bolt it back up. It's nearly impossible to misalign in such a way that you'd pinch an o-ring if you lube them first.

the best way i found to get to them, is take off the valve cover and the throttle body. makes it so much easier and doesn't take long at all.

thanks for all your input guys, well he changed the injector anyway, i'm real short on time to get my registration so i figured it would be worth it timewise, but still same problems, he also changed my coil too (w/o askin me first) god i hate mechanics! anyway, so i still have cel's 12, 43, 25, 31, 55 and heres the list of what's been done so far:
all ignition replaced from coil to plugs, ecu was replaced, iac motor was replaced with another used one, so MIGHT still be faulty but i don't imagine it would cause misfire (just either high or low idle depending if its stuck in a certain position right?)
pcv valve changed for the hell of it, cylinder 4 injector changed, threw in an optima battery, threw on a grounding kit in case it was bad grounding causing bad ignition

unrelated - also the entire auto tranny was rebuilt including new torque converter

my symptoms are:
sputtering at idle, but idle rpms are not low, about 800-900 in gear, and a little high- 1100-1300 in park or neutral
engine shakes relatively hard when idling, dont' feel it much cuz the motor mounts were just replaced

any ideas? or if any of you know of a talented, honest, and FAST mechanic, please refer me, anywhere from LA to pasadena... preferably someone who really knows 2gnt's

thanks guys!
