#81700, "MSD Sport Compact Ignition... Incompatible?"
Well, I bought an MSD SCI for my Eclipse, read the instruction manual, and guess what? It says it won't work with a distributorless ignition system like the one in a 2GNT. The funny thing is, I bought it from Howell Automotive's online catalog from the page that only contains parts for 2GNTs. If anyone could correct me if I'm wrong on this I would appreciate it. Howell Automotive's website states that they do not accept returns on electrical parts. Hopefully I won't have to sell this thing on eBay. Maybe I'll beg for store credit towards a DIS-2 and cross my fingers...

Did you call them? Call them. Then post.

I don't have long distance, but I did email them and explain the situation. The reply was, "We don't sell an igniton that doesn't fit the eclipse, so I'm confused." I just wanted to make sure I was correct before I press the issue. Thanks for the info, metaljim.

Don't feel bad I ordered the sci from summit and relized it was wrong and not for my car....since then they updated the description to include ..."not for distributorless ignitions" ....I lost money shipping it back because they needed insurance and next day air. But I was glad they took it back as most places will not accept returns on electronics.Sell it on ebay if they won't give you credit and buy the dis-2. EDit: I now find myself searching here for any part I want to buy first to hear the pros and cons from everyone and if it will even work for our cars.I guess thats one of the best benefits of being a member here.
