I already placed my order for an AFX TB. Shall I have my intake manifold port matched? Or will the stock diameter match up large enough? If, i should have to port my intake manifold..should i use any local machine shop? Use a dremel tool? or have a race shop send it off to a porting company for $150.00 (this is excluding over night delivery charge??!! ) ..suggestions please..thx-lee

if you port it on your own, can u do a writeup on it. i am goin in the same direction as you, and i am going to port the intake mani as soon as i get my TB back from howell. the 55mm tb will match up with the inlet, its just the inside of the manifold is as rough as the outside. so porting/polishing it will create gains

Thanks for the above posts.. but can someone help me make a decision on how much to spend on a 'port match' on my intake manifold? -local machine shop? -dremel instructions? -race shops?
thanks-lee

Dremel instuctions for porting the intake manifold.
You will need a dremel and a flex shaft extension. I used both grinding stones and the round sand paper. Take the manifold off the head and take the bolts out thay attch it in the middle. You want to open the runners up to the size if the gasket. Then after the runners are the right size, smooth the whole area with a fine grinding stone. There is not too much porting you can do with the top half of the manifold except for the short part of the runners. You want the air to have as little resistance as possible and also you want enough room to cram a LOT of air thru the runners if you have a turbo. If you are still N/A you will notice that the car flows better at higher RPM and will easily rev to 7200 rpm with no problem.
