i bought a used one off ebay with a tb to play around with. i know that i'm going to bore and polish it. my question is what should i be careful for not to damage it.

Yeah! Not you sure did you say huh there is not sense too much making in the if ask me you did. In any case, here's some advice:

TB - remove hump just before throttle plate and polish everything else
Upper mani - gasket match ports on runners
Lower mani - gasket match ports on upper runners, carefully knife edge humps under injectors and blend back into runners for biggest gains.

Try to speak a little better than an 8th grader fresh off the boat in the future. It's easier to understand you when you write in a semblance of English.
