#80718, "SSAutochrome Header"

Does anyone have this header?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7922561024&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

How does it compare to Greddy and DC Sports? I noticed the 4 to 1 pipe conversation takes place a lot sooner than in the Greddy header. Is this bad for air flow? Also has anyone noticed any gains with this header, company claims 15-20 horsepower, I know that's highly exagerated but a DC header dynoed at 9 more, so I want to know which header to go with.

im pretty sure there are a couple people on the board that have that header because i remember it being discussed back in the day. it doesnt really compare to greddy and dcsports because its not a big brand name. as far as gettin 15-20hp from it, that will not happen. you will be lucky to see 1-2hp from any header because they arent really designed to free up hp, they are just in place to help with exhaust flow. was the dc header that dynoed at 9 or more on a honda at the time? if so, thats why it dynoed so high. you will not see those numbers from a header on an eclipse. i hope that helps you some.

I have that header from them also thier downpipe and high flow cat and catback. They make a very noticable combination when used together. They may not be name brand but you can pick them up for just over the price of a greddy header alone. It's not being cheap it's just spending on a HP budget.I feel that even if the parts were the suck after 2 years I could buy them again and still be way under the cost of name brand.Don't get me wrong though when I get more serious about performance and tuning like when it's time to turbo I will be buying quality name brand parts as security and reliabilty are important.I'll take some pics for you if you want to see it on my car.
edit: the fitment on all those parts were GREAT,no problems there. And I got my parts in 4 days....another plus.

The dyno was on a honda. SSAutochrome's feedback history on eBay has persuaded me never to buy from them. They are very unprofessional and provide poor customer service, based on many ratings. Also their headers are not street legal.

I have the ssautochrome headers as well and have been very pleased with them. The only thing that made them better was a good thick header wrap. A must in my book. Kept the under hood heat down alot. The fitment was pretty good as well, no problems. I kinda think about it this way. They're stainless, they're not gonna rust, and as far as I can tell they are quite thick with high quality welds. They've lasted alot of races on my car. The only reason I may take them off is cause I'm going turbo soon.

They look ok but i can't see getting 15-20 hp gaion from any kind of header unless you have some serious ass motor work and nitrous.

Before going turbo I was looking into getting the same headers, I think when its about things like headers I think between Greddy, DC, OBX, Etc, they are pretty much all the same performance wise maybe like .4 extra horses from Greddy or DC or something based on their research technology but I dont think its worth the extra $200+ to get that .4 Extra HP. IMO

I got that header about 6 months ago and finally got it installed a week ago. No complaints so far, the fit was good, but it does have a design flaw. Take a look at how the headers fit into the down pipe; they just sit in there with no gasket. The fit is actually so loose that you can see light coming through. This is really not something you want in an exhaust unless you really like power loss, backfiring, and horrible gas mileage. I installed mine, marked exactly how everything fit, took it off and welded the headers to the down pipe. Possibly overkill, but worth the time in my opinion.

Other than that I was pretty impressed with these headers. Good welds, good bends, perfect fit to the motor and the stock cat, came with bolts and gaskets for the motor and the cat joints, and they look great. If they changed how they fit together they would be the best deal around.
