it's been a long time since I've read these boards (I totaled my '96 ESi a couple years ago). Anyway, my girlfriend recently bought a '98 ESi auto for approx. $6,000...it has an intake and custom cat-back exhaust on it as the only mods. We took it to a mechanic her stepmom knows and found out what was wrong with it: Needs new fluids, oil change, timing belt and water pump needs replaced, and something around the headgasket was leaking. Anyway, they fixed everything for about $600...well, the other night we had it idling in front of her house and noticed a bit of smoke (looked whitish from where I stood) coming out of the engine bay. Also, it smelled like coolant. I'm just curious what could be wrong? The temperature guage in the car is showing normal signs..so it's not overheating...I was thinking maybe some coolant got spilled on the engine and it's being burned off? If anyone has an idea or opinions, please let me know. I'm making her take it to the mechanic today and see WTF is going on. Well, thanks in advance guys.

Ok, my girlfriend took it to the mechanic who says that she has an oil leak. It's also possible that some coolant was spilled on the engine and that's why we smell that. Apparently they are fixing it (hopefully for free or I'll bash some heads in). Thanks for the input.
