i assume its a 0-5 like most others so.. i want to splice in a wire so that i can run it thru my wideband logger and get my temps. can this be done, IS it a 0-5v supply, and if it is what type of sensor is it so that i can look up the specific output info to program?

I would think you would want to drill and tap a new 1/8" hole and use the temp sensor that the wideband company suggests? I dont know any that tap off the stocker. But you could easily find out its range by removing it and hooking it up to a voltmeter and dipping it into hot water.

In short the IAT is a thermistor. It changes resistance proportionately to changes in temperature. It will not send out a voltage. I would suggest that you buy a small thermistor from Newark and try to incorporate it into the wideband. You can buy them with NPT threads and everything. That way, the sensor will come with a spec sheet that details its performance. You could then calculate XX ohms = XX deg F. If the wideband cannot read resistance, then you could probably build a circuit that would use the changing resistance to change a voltage source (divider type).

it also uses the exact same ohm scale per unit temp as the factory coolant temp sensor, fyi.

IAT or Intake Air Temperature sensor: Thermistor type sensor that reads the temperature of the air in the intake manifold. It outputs a resistance from about 0.6 to 11 kilo-ohms that varies with temperature. This helps the ECU figure out how much air the engine is injesting.

i've been reading a ton of posts like this... how the hell do you guys figure this SHIT out??!?!?! am i'm missing a section somewhere or is there something else i should be reading? sorry for the hijack i was just wondering and i'm gettin frustrated.

The info on this site comes from factory manuals, observation, and experimentation. We have many members that are dedicated to finding and recording information about these cars.

OK, your better off just using whatever sensor is recommended. You will not be able to use the stock sensor... Chrysler coolant and air intake sensors are normal thermisters, however, the Chrysler ecu changes it's internal pullup resistor once it reaches a certain temperature, thus changing the slpe of the thermister at that point... this makes the signal very hard to work with.
This is the same reason I don't use the stock sensors for the Megasquirt...
Oh and in case you didn't realise we DO have a Chrysler pcm in our 2gnt dsm's.
