#80107, "MSD - 2 problems, maybe"

Well I have an MSD-2 and its been running fine for over 2 years now. Today Im going through any intersection and just as Im in the middle of the intersection, what do you know, it dies. So Im stuck the middle of this intersection and it wont start. Good thing I live in such a small hick town, a friend of mine was driving around me and helped me push it out of the intersection.

Anyways, we checked over everything and it looked fine. So we checked for spark cuz I could smell raw fuel coming out the exhaust when I tried to start it. No spark. So luckily I keep the bypass plug in my glove box. I bypassed the MSD-2, turned the key and we have a heartbeat!!

Now I havent been able to check it out yet, I will first thing tomorrow. I just want to know if anybody has ran into this prob before? Im hoping a wire just came loose or a wire grounded out or something.

Any ideas??
Thanx
DJ

hey just a question....are you running the ignition adapter with your msd-2? If not your signal wire voltage (4.5 volts I think needed ) may have dropped just enough to give you a no fire with the msd-2 on...just a thought, hopefully its just a loose wire or something. And yea your rides looks sweet dude.

i had this same problem...well sort of.... i thought it was the msd, but turned out it was a wire shorting out on the egr valve tube.... check that out....and are you running the tack adapter? if so, how did you just plug the bypass plug in? i thought you had to remove the tack adapter to do that?

Yeah, you unplug the tach adapter and just hook the green and white wires together, put the bypass plug back in and she'll runstock ign..

I kinda figured out what is wrong. I checked for voltage on the power wire. Im showing a current from the starter(where I have it connected for power) all the way to the box where it goes in. I have power. But when I check for power on the other side, where they come out, there is nothing. Its weird cuz when I got to the shop, I hooked it back up and the car ran fine. Then when I was ready to leave I started it and it ran for about 5 mins. and it just shut off. What the hell.

Im gonna email MSD, but in the meantime, any ideas??
Thanx
DJ
