Ok, I thought it was my rear main seal that was leaking, but had that replaced and there were still drips on the driveway.
The drips eventually turned into puddles.
Has anyone had their oil pressure sending unit leak into the bellhousing, causing the clutch to slip and ultimately go out?
I know it's not the rear main seal and the valve cover gasket, those are new and were installed properly.

What else have you guys have leak on you to cause puddles?

I really dont see how it would. Its a good 6" from the bell housing. But anything is possible.

I dont know if you know of someone that can hook up, but try to find a place that will put your car on a lift and dump some of that ultrviolet dye in your oil.

They put this dye in your oil. They put on, I think its a pair of yellow safety googles. Then run the car using a black ultraviolet lamp to find the leak.

When I first started with my 96, I had the usually headgasket leak, but didnt know it at the time. They did this process and even showed me the oil coming out. It really works!!

Well if your pressure unit is leaking it can make it down onto the inspection plate of the tranny and look as if it is coming from there. Did the clutch issue go away when the new rear main was installed? You should get under the car and take off your inspection plate from the bottom of the bell housing and see if there is any oil in there even with a properly installed new seal leaks are possible... Also take a look at the sending unit and the back of the block in general to see if you see any leaks. You will Usually be able to see how high they are on the engine...

I had the new clutch and rear main seal put in at the same time ($700). It's been a little over 2 weeks and 650 miles later. The clutch seems fine so far. The oil leak is pretty bad only when the motor is running, which is why I suspect OPSU.
I took the car in to the mechanic and he took a quick glance (less than 5 seconds) and said it was the opsu. We'll see how much gets done after $50.

Why not find out what is wrong, rather then throwing money at it until it is unfucked? There are about 20 places that it could be diarrheaing out oil that might wind up near the transmission... oil pan gasket, freeze plug, head gasket, valve cover gasket, crack in the block, crack in the head, or maybe it isn't even engine oil. It could be transmission fluid. Are you willing to replace anything that seals any fluid in the motor and transmission? Because that is what you are doing with your "fix it one thing at a time" mantra.

Like someone up there said, get the blacklight dye for your oil, and run it for a few miles. Then, check it out with the blacklight, and it will draw an arrow to the leak. Then, maybe, you could stop wasting your money and make the fucker fast.

Stop playing fucking pocket pool with fucking mechanics. Jack the car up and look for yourself. Clean down the back of the block. Pull the sending unit. Is it damaged? Probably not. Put it back in. Fire the car up (Make sure you weigh the car down a bit or that wing is going to catch a crosswind and all hell is going to break loose). Watch the sending unit for any leaking. Good Lord.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did... lifted the car and checked where the oil was coming from. OPSU. It's not like you're addressing someone with no mechanical experience. Travelling all the time for work, I'm never home long enough to fix anything anymore, so I leave it at the shop when I'm gone. Besides, I've been fixing/replacing parts ever since I bought this car. There comes a point when you just give up trying to do all this crap on your own.
Time for a new car, just gotta fix the leak so I can sell the damn thing.

My OPSU went. I posted about it on here a while ago. I thought it was my rear main so i changed that and i found my rear main was a little messed up. that just made the opsu worse. So i jacked up the car and started it and saw that it was leaking around the sender so i unplugged it and more oil came out. this is what happened to it

you can see the diapram is somehow torn but you cant see its that till you open the sender. Replaced it and no more leak.

oh and you can tell if the rear main is leaking usually by lookin at the end of the clutch release fork by the slave cylinder. If you see oil on it then ur rear mains probley leaking
