i was loosening up the tensioner to replace my alternator belt and the damn reverse thread bolt snapped! called satan and they don't sell just the bolt i need the whole assembly for 120 bucks.... ummm there is no damn way i'm paying 120 for a f'n bolt!!!!

called a few junk yards around and none have 95-99 eclipses in stock...

called a damn local bolt company and they don't make reverse threaded bolts...

help?

i'm gonna have to say... talk to sorry_i_win, he's parting out a 2g talon. look in the for sale forum. i believe he's already gotten rid of the alternator, but i would imagine he would still have the braket and the bolt.

I got an easier cheaper fix, cuz I've had that problem twice. Unbolt the tensioner. Take some string, fishing line, whatever, run it around all the pulleys except the tensioner you took off. Measure it and buy a belt that size or whatever is closest to it. Now use your power steering pump as your tensioner and your set. Plus it only takes like 2 minutes to change the belt this way.

i like that idea, do you by any chance know the size? I'm always working and going to school at night so my days are tied up... plus this weekend here in Fl. we're goin' to have a serious hurricane...

I have had my alternator adjuster missing for at least a year. all I did was to get a friend to pry the alternator tight while I tightened a bolt and nut that I picked up at the hardware store. so far no problem.
most cars that I own have their belts tightened this way from the factory.

yea, but see, i can't get the tennisioner pully bolt just any place it's a special reverse (left hand) threaded bolt witha groove near the head of the bolt to hold it in place...

even one of the local bolt companies here that i called don't do reverse threaded... another might but he hasn't gotten back w/me yet... i'm intrested in doing this belt w/out the tennisioner... at least temporary untill i can find the bolt from a junked eclipse somewhere...

I got an underdrive pulley so the size belt I'm running is 050470. I said measure cuz I don't know what the stock size would be, or if you have a different underdrive pulley. Either way its real easy to do and mine has be going fine since jan. this year, no problems. You can get alot more tension on the belt this method too if needed. Plus you won't have to sit there an hour turning that damn bolt trying to get your belt back on. It took me less then 5 minutes to put on a new belt, don't even have to jack up the car now.
