heres the deal, i have absolutely no spark!, crank pos is hooked up, and functioning properly to my knowlege, frigging asd is reading perfect, the coil have no fire, the ohms that run threw it are right on point, the coil harness plug hass no electricity.

the cam magnet sensor is a 2.4 cam magnet sensor, bbrand new, ive tryed switching the wires around a couple different ways and i still have no spark. am i supposed to be using the 2.0 cam magnet sensor? distressed!, let me know, thanks

the 2.4 reads the 2.4 cam magnet....you dont have a 2.4 cam magnet on do you? i dont think our ecu will even read the 2.4's cam magnet, its a little different. easier way is ritate the magnet 90* and use the 2.0.

swap the two outer wires on the coilpack..thats why you dont have spark

there is 3 wires...1-2-3....swap 1 with 3 and 3 with 1, now your firing order is correct, i think you'll only need to do this if you didnt re-wire the injectors. try the cam magnet first and see if fires up, then check the coil wiring.

Swap the outer two wires. (L) 1 - 2 - 3 (R), make it (L) 3 - 2 - 1 (R).

all the cam sensor magnets are the same model !
the difference between 420a neons and 2.4 is in the 2 index holes at the end of the cam

you need to cut the 2 tabs under the magnet and turn the magnet 90 degres counterclock wise
you also need to swap wires at the coil pack like explained earlier here
and do the injector swap for fuel

i give credit were credit is due, sorry i overlooked your post turbo8u, thanks for the info bro.

"you need to cut the 2 tabs under the magnet and turn the magnet 90 degres counterclock wise"

2tabs?????? got any pics of that alain?

okay last nite, still no fire, i checked the asd relay several times, the ohms are right. i checked the cranshaft pos sensor, it seemeed to right, with voltage passing threw. the harness to the plugin for the coil pack doesnt have any fire. no voltage, not even when cranking over.

i dont understand, i pretty positive it doesmt have a fusible link, if it does, its good anyhow. this is weird! i thought theres only 3 things from keeping the ignition from operating, ASD, crank sensor, and cam sensor, all of these items are there! what else could it be?

im also not getitng a battery light or oil pressure light on ,my instrument panel, instead, im getting numerous blinking check engine lights, proably about 1 minutes worth, i think it means its flashing codes, but i dont know how to check it!

thanks

it would probably be a lot easier if you had a datalogger or something....codes have always been helpful to me when i dont know whats wrong. your coil problem is kind of weird...im not sure if there is a fusible link either, what i would do though is run those codes and see what you've got...

edit: now you're SURE the cam magnet is rotated exactly 90* counterclockwise?

when the motor was assembled, i informed him to do this, no im not 100% positive that it is rotated exactly 90. is there anyway to tell? but still if it wasnt, it should still send out some sort of spark. right?

you said you ohms the asd relay....the question is do you have 12 os comming out of it? or another way to check is to look for 12pos at the cam sensor. both receive 12v from the asd relay. the asd relay can ohm out ok but still be faulty.

u mean 12volts coming out of the relay? 12pos at the cam sensor? i cant even get a voltage reading to come out of the coil harness before i start or trying to start.

okay so even if the cam magnet was off, you are telling me that the coil pack wouldnt even spark a plug? im just trying to exhaust possible problems!

you said you're not getting power to the coilpack? test the middle 12v wire and also maybe ground the coil pack better

it's one of the thing that I don't have pics yet

remove the cam sensor
you will see on the magnet that there a tiny groove on the suface , use a permanent marker and draw a line from the groove up to the head

once done unscrew the magnet from you cam, don't worry, if you magnet is new like you said you can't do something wrong yet emoji

under the magnet you will see the 2 plastic tabs that are used to align the magnet with the 2 pilot holes in the cam , and the physical position of those 2 holes in the cams is the main difference between 420a, neons and 2.4 cams

with a dremel you need to cut flush the 2 tabs, by doing this you could now orient the magnet any way you want once on the cam

put the magnet back and calculate 90 degres counterclockwise from the mark that you draw earlier , tight the screw as much as you can once done

Ok sounds liek you have not checked for 12v constant at each sensor correctly.

Bottom line when you turn the key....the ASD relay clicks over sending 12v pos to each sensor and many other functions. Without cranking the car one wire of the cam, map, tps, coil pack, and knock sensor will have 12v pos comming to it. that is without cranking, just having the key on. If you dont have that, check the ASD relay has a 12+ from the battery on two of its terminals. one of the other terms goes to the ECU and the other goes to each sensor. If you have 12+ on the coil side of the ASD relay and 12+ on the solid blades of the ASD then the ASD is bad.

This is not particular to DSM's so remember it! If the sensors are not getting 12+ then i dont care what wire you swap, if the cam mag is rotated, or if you rewired the injectors...your car will not start.

Check that before going over all the 2.4 swap issues, then once fixed verify the injectors, spark plug wires and wether or not you rotated the cam magnet.

Correct me if i am wrong but if you rotated the cam mag then you dont need to re-wire the injectors, if you rewire the injectors then you dont need to rotate the cam magnet...Dino Alain didnt we discuss that elsewere? Or did i get that point mixed up?

if you haven't played with the cam sensor magnet that error code would be logical

no, the colors are totally different. just turned the magent, still getting the codes for cam sensor, im definatly not understanding the bank one thing, i didnt have any of my o2 sensors hooked up, but that shouldnt have nothing to do with why im not getting any spark. im mean nothing, something is definatly wrong, asds have 12volts running threw them, the ohms are the relays deemed fine, and still no spark, i know its not sparking because, ive taken the sparkplug out of the cylinder. nothing.

Dwayne,
I have been holding back because I don't want to look like an idiot. but, you seem to need a little input here.

to start with..
I am doing my own 2.4 project and I have read a lot on the subject, and I don't remember us ever having to touch the cam sensor, only the crank sensor. if I recall correctly you are running some 2.4 cams, right? why? maybe it would be best to run the 2.0 cams until you get this problem sorted out, move the injector wiring and swap the outer wires on the coil.

btw, what year engine are you running. I have heard that the 2001+ engines have the newer crank sensor magnet that will not sent the proper values to our ecu.

peace
WIKKI

THAT is not f**king THAT!
THIS is f**king THIS!
