#79498, "Cam gears backwards???"

I know Ive posted a shitload lately, but I need to find out what the hell is going on, so apology in advance if anyone is getting annoyed!!

I think Ive found what my rough idle problem is, maybe. Can my Crane cam gears be on backwards? The center timing marks line up, but the degree settings on the actually gears arent in the same spot. Just for the hell of it, I adj. the cam gears to where it looks like there where there supposed to be, now its running fine, go figure!!

Thanx guys,
DJ

you know why your shit sucks right now.... cause fucking crane manufactured their cam gears incorrectly. The offset is off over a 1/4 of an inch and they fucking knew it when they manufactured them. If you don't believe me call the company, i did and they got shitty with me and told me to buy unorthodox. Im telling you from experience i have a set in my room waiting to be sent back to the company that i bought them from. Send back ur $300 piece of shit cam gears and get unorthodox. I bought them with the knowledge... crane makes some good shit... they can't fuck up with simple cam gears. Well fuck crane and go buy unorthodox IMO. Sorry for the harsh words towards crane but they set my car back at least another month. Hope this helps man.

Well, well, well. I guess maybe thats why Dave at Crane told me today that they stopped producing them, hmmmmm. Well Ive had the cam gears for over 3 yrs now and I dont think I can get my moey back, can I?

Is there way I can compensate anything for now? Before I took apart the motor this last time, the were fine, I could play with the adjustments and everything. Now I cant.

Does the both lines on the inside of the gears line up or a line and the dot?

Thanx for letting me in on this, youve cleared a hell of alot up!!

I'd say just remark them correctly and go from there if possible.

well mainly they were manufactured wrong in regards to teh "offset" or how far away the gear sits away from the head. The t-belt was 1/4 inch off the back side. I would still talk to dave and see if u can get a refund... it's worth a try. If you can't i would get a stock cam gear and use that as a reference where to mark TDC.

Well I stared at them lastnight for about an hour. Did some off the wall measuring and found that the zero marks would be at, on the intake +4 and on the exhaust -4. I set it there and the car is running like a champ now!!

Thanx for the input guys, as usual, huge help!!
