#79042, "Could my timing be off even though it wont show a code for timing off?"
My car runs fine and boosts fine, but i hear this clicking noise that is annoying. I think it is a valve hitting one of my pistons but i dont know to much about sounds. I also dont know how to check to make sure the timing marks are right. I can search and find that out though. If anyone has had it happen, let me know how it sounds so i can listen and hopefully find out the noise. I dont want to mess anything up since i just got the motor built not even 3 months ago.

Your motor would throw off the "timing belt skipped a tooth code" because the cam sensor wouldnt compare to the crank sensor I thought the clicking was wierd on my car but you could only hear it under the hood. Are yours loud enough to hear in the car ?

If your timing was off even one tooth it would idle horrible and run even worse. You can rule that out, b/c it's not your timing. Was the head milled at all?

My head was not milled. Just got some stainless steel valves and springs and nothing else from when my belt snapped and bent some valves. The clicking noise is actually like a knocking sound and i can hear with the hood shut and i dont think i can hear in my car, i really dont pay attention to it, so i will see if i can hear but i sont think so. Thanks for the replies.

Are you sure it's not an exhaust leak? Somtimes that sounds like a peck. Tighten your manifold, downpipe, and turbo bolts and see if that doesnt' help.
Oh, you don't like altezza's? Too bad, your gonna get a good look at mine.

I have a little exhaust leak where my downpipe and connects to turbo, but i will tighten everything up just to be sure. The sound sounds more like a aluminum or metal clicking. I am just gonna have to drive with it and not worry unless it gets out of hand.
