could there be any benefit to using co2 sprayers on the bottom of our intake manifold and up the intake tube? i know there is a big difference between n/a intake temps and turbo intake temps but colder air is still colder air, right?? also, if you were to add a turbo kit, w/ fmic, and another sprayer, would that be too much of a temp difference as to cause damage to the engine?? feel free to assault me with your opinions...chris

You know, i wanted to ask the same exact question, but i was afraid of getting flamed. It seems as though it would work, but how much of a hp increase is the question and whether or not its worth the trouble. I have or can get all the stuff to make something of the sort so i'm interested to see what other members have to say.Also,(i don't mean to horn in on you post, but) My dad was telling me, back in his day guys would coil a couple of feet of fuel line in a coffe can and fill it with ice to cool the gas. I was wondering in this would be worth the trouble on a fuel injected car.

do a search , peoples opinions differ on this. IMO, its too much of a pain. Sure you can tune for that and shoot for pbig numbers but what about when your not shooting it? I think you would run really rich. If you can compensate for that then shoot for it.
As for shooting it into your intake, well just get nitrous oxide. Not only does it cool the air, but its also stable (for thet most part).

Cooling the intake would probably not be a bad idea if you could do it efficiently, would def take some trial and errors to get a nice setup.
Suieclipse claims cooling our air charge on a turbo 420a creates knock. I am not even going to comment because i have not tried it.
I would expect cooling the intake would take more effort due to the fact it is a casted piece unlike an intercooler that exchanges heat more efficiently.

instead of going through the trouble, pick up a corbin spacer and some heat wrap or something to keep the intake temps down. the most effecient way is to spray it on an IC...but if your NA your SOL there.
as far as nitrous goes..yes, the nitrogen does cool the intake charge....because if it didnt youd burn up the pistons. if you injected 100% oxygen into your combustion chambers...youd almost immediately start melting pistons. the nitrogen helps keep these temps down. so yes...it does cool the intake charge...so you dont burn up your motor.

I don't think your power gain with spraying CO2 on the manifold will be worth the effort. If you already had all the equipment, then its worth a shot. I've seen this egg shaped thing that you stick in your intake. CO2 is used to freeze the egg and it cools the air that passes by it. Thats probably a cleaner installation. Might get better response from it (as apposed to cooling the manfold). I'd probably get a CAI, wrap some thermal tape on it, and call it a day. And if you have headers...wrap them too.

i was thinking of using the sprayer pipe such as the intercoolers use, but being a straight bar instead of an oval shape and strapping that right on to our cai with a couple layers of header wrap. we would have to build a sheet metal air box around the filter to keep from ingesting the co2. and, with the manifold, a similar setup with the straight bar held right against the back of the mani and another sheet metal air box to keep the cool air centralized around the mani. what do you think???

coil some copper or stainless lines around your cai and run co2 through it. its bound to cool the intake charge. also, c02 doesnt burn, so I wouldnt get it near the filter. i've been playing with this idea off and on. i will tell you that i have rigged up 3 sprayer systems:
1 for the passenger smic 1 for the driver smic and one for the oil cooler
all of these are ran on my friends 3000GT SL-TT. 10:1 CR and 9psi. i'd go with the coil around the intake idea. when you do it and it works, be sure to give me some props.
