#78869, "oil all over valve cover??"

I have been noticing a good amount of oil residue around the valve cover. I cleaned it and a couple of weeks later all the oil residue is back. Is it a possiblity that it could be the oil cap or something else?? thanks for the help here

If you've ever taken your valve cover off you will notice there are 4 small interior gaskets that seal the valve cover to the spark plugs holes. If they are going bad you will definitely get an oil build up b/c the channels coming from the oil pump to the head are directly alongside the spark plugs holes. Without those 4 gaskets your whole spark plug well would fill up with oil in minutes.

Ditto what they said! But it could be the flat rubber gasket on your filler cap too. Check to see if your PCV is working right. Too much pressure in there could be causing that as well. Although not to a serious degree.

So now at 44 what the hell do I do?

mine leaks a little from the two bolts in the plug valley. the rubber bushings are old so they don't seal up right. just enough to wet the valley and the side above the tranny. i'll get to em eventually.
