yesterday i changed my oil..jacked it up, drained the oil blah blah...put the new filter on, put 3 quarts of new oil in and checked the dipstick...and it was over the full mark..now its runnin a lil sluggish, which would be a symptom of too much oil...anybody know how i can only put 3 quarts in and have it too full?

add another 1.5 and call it a day.

I always add 4 then check the dipstick, then run the engine for about 30 sec, then check the dipstick again. I also fill the filter beforehand.

I removed my pan last year with roughly 160k on the engine. Pretty damn clean. If he is using fram filters the story might be different.
