Ok Im posting this for a friend of mine who has a 95 Eclipse but no computer.Heres the run down about 6 months ago I convinced him to rebuild his engine after he hydrolocked it emoji .Well he decided to buy a pre assembled shortblock form the local machine shop and have them aslso re-do his head(new valves and check everything)well after I went on vacation he got around to putting it all together with his hick friend from the north(no offence to northeners just dumb rednecks who are hack mechanics)well his friend did most of the work when he wasnt there and geting parts over torqed most of the brackets and the exhaust manifold. When they finnaly got around to cranking it up it wouldnt start. But when it finnaly started it made a hell of a racket and finnaly craked up running really rough for the first 5 min then settling down but stull running rough.I herd it before he drug it to billy bob the hack mechanic it sounded like a bad lifter or knocking. When the mechanic got it he said he flushed the fuel system and it made the bad knock sound go away but said the ruff running was from the computer(being bad) and the exhaust leak from the (I know) Ebay header emoji .He chrged him $350 had it for a week but only worked on it for a day and replaced the heat range hotter ngk's I gave him :\ .Well the car runs better after I put the stock mani back on but still has a leak somewhere but has no powreband at all .I did a fuel preasure check and comp test 40+ psi fuel and 215 all the way across. I called my junkyard guy he said he doubted the computer and suggested timming off or clogged cat. Whew soryy for long post...Anybody got any other idea's????

You know, it does sound like a cat, or maybe even a clogged fuel filter. Also check to see if there is water in the tank. It'll will run crappy like that if there is water in the line. Then of course check for vac leaks. That'll do it to.

Good luck man, hope I helped out:shrug
